Abstract:
HPC-Europa2’s Transnational Access programme offered European-based computational scientists the opportunity to travel to another country to work in collaboration with researchers in a similar field, while having access to some of the most powerful computers in Europe.
In addition to the Transnational Access programme, the HPC-Europa project partners also collaborated on various Networking Activities (Facilitating the HPC Ecosystem; Training, Consultancy and Communication of the HPC Culture) and Joint Research Activities (HPC on Massively Parallel Architectures: Programming models; Virtual Cluster; Tools for Scientific Data Services).

DKMS contribution:
Organised and run for the local PoP (Point of Presence) for Greece, Cyprus and Bulgaria, which aimed at disseminating HPC-E2 towards scientific communities and universities, supporting the TA programme applicants and helping towards the improvement of the scientific level of their access projects.
Led the task of improving the stability of the AccessGrid Service, which was the main collaboration software used among TA activities staff and visitors, by enabling adaptive delivery of video content depending on the network channel characteristics, properties of the terminal devices and personalisation factors.
Contributed to the integration and production of the HPC-E2 live-DVD, which allowed actual hands-on building of an adhoc “virtual cluster” with all the tools developed at each HPC-Europa2 partner and having the developed code integrateable onto the final HPC machine at the TA site, by booting this DVD on several standard PCs or Laptops.
