Konstantinos Tserpes
Assistant Professor
Konstantinos Tserpes is an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) at the department of Telematics and Informatics of Harokopio University of Athens and a Research Associate at the Distributed, Knowledge and Media Systems (DKMS) of the National Technical University of Athens lead by Prof. T. Varvarigou. He is a graduate of the Computer Engineering and Informatics department of the University of Patras. He holds a PhD in the area of Service Oriented Architectures with a focus on quality aspects from the school of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA and a Master's degree from the same School.
Achilleas Marinakis
Achilleas Marinakis received his diploma from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2011. In 2015 he received an MSc in Techno-Economic Systems (MBA) co-organized by NTUA and University of Piraeus. He is currently pursuing his PhD thesis in the Distributed Knowledge and Media Systems (DKMS) Group of NTUA and he has been working as a Research Associate and Software Engineer in the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) since 2013.
Efthymios Chondrogiannis
Efthymios Chondrogiannis (Phd Student) received his diploma from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering School of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, in 2008. He completed his thesis with title "Analysis and Integration of the Operating System Android in Grid" to the sector of Telecommunication, Electronics and Computer Systems of the NTUA. The years followed (2008-2010) he has worked in the private sector in the development of Web Applications and Systems. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Grid Computing at the Telecommunications Laboratory of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the NTUA and he is a researcher for the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS). He has coordinated and participated in several EU funded projects such as HarmonicSS, ACTIVAGE, PONTE and OpenScienceLink, among others. His research interests include bioengineering, distributed systems, service oriented architectures, semantic web, and text mining.
Efstathios Karanastasis
Efstathios Karanastasis received his Diploma on Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece, in 2007. In 2004 he worked for Athens Olympic Broadcasting, in the production and archiving of the broadcasted program. During the course of his military service he worked for the Center of Informatics of the Greek Army as a software developer. He further qualified as a consultant IT-specialist at the e-government team assembled by the Greek Ministry of Administrative Reform and e-Governance in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence. He is a PhD candidate in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens and has been employed as a research engineer at the Institute of Communications and Computer Systems. He has participated in numerous EU-funded IT projects, including HPC-Europa, BEinGRID, PONTE, OpenScienceLink, SECOVIA, HOLA CLOUD, SLALOM, HarmonicSS and ACTIVAGE, mainly involved with SOA platforms design and implementation, semantics and Cloud computing. He is fluent in Greek, English and German.
Fotis Aisopos
Fotis Aisopos received his diploma from the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2007. From 2007 to 2012 he pursued his Phd thesis entitled “Quality of Service Evaluation in Real Time Service Oriented Infrastructures“ in the Distributed Knowledge and Media Systems Group of the NTUA. Throughout his phd he has received several scholarships and awards (Scholarship from NTUA’s Special Account for Research Funds, Short period ICCS Scholarship for educational - laboratory work, UN World Summit Youth Award) and published numerous papers in scientific conferences and journals. He currently works as a senior researcher for the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS), where he has participated in several EU funded projects (BEinGRID, +Spaces, SocIoS, RADICAL, SAM, LeanBigData, CloudPerfect). His research interests include Information Engineering, Distributed Systems and Architectures, Web Services, Social Networking and Data Analytics.
John Violos
John Violos is a Research Associate in the National Technical University of Athens. He is a graduate of Electrical and Computer Engineering department of National Technical University of Athens. His research interests include Machine Learning, Text Mining, Graph Mining, Information Retrieval, Cloud computing and Social Network Analysis.
Antonis Litke
Dr. Antonis Litke has more than 14 years of experience as a professional IT engineer. He has held the positions of Operations Director, Technical Manager, Project Manager and Software Engineer in various companies being responsible for large scale projects that were involving multinational teams. Dr. Litke has participated in R&D teams of over 10 research projects (EC and nationally funded), including BigClouT, RADICAL, SMART, ISISEMD, AKOGRIMO, HPC-EUROPA, MEMPHIS, GRIA, SECRETS, LAMER, and others. He has led technical teams for highly demanding commercial projects and has been responsible for fine tuning operational procedures for critical IT systems development. Dr. Litke has served as technical consultant in Evaluation Committees of the Information Society SA and is technical advisor at the Greek Association of Computer Engineers. He has worked also as an adjunct assistant professor in the Computer Science Department of University of Ioannina (teaching the course “Internet technologies”). Dr. Litke received the diploma from the Dept. of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the University of Patras, Greece in 1999, and the PhD from Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of National Technical University of Athens in 2006 (his thesis had been awarded by Thomaidis Foundation). He is the author of more than 20 scientific articles (with over 250 citations) and a reviewer of several international journals and conferences. His research interests include cloud computing, parallel and distributed computing, Internet of Things and machine learning.
George Palaiokrassas
Dr. Georgios Palaiokrassas received his diploma from the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2013 and his PhD in 2019 from the same department. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher and works as a senior Research Associate and Software Engineer in the Institute of Communications and Computer Systems (ICCS), where he has been working since 2013. He has participated in numerous EU-funded projects (OPTIMIS, EXPERIMEDIA, SUPER, BigClouT and Bloomen, M-Sec). His research interests include cloud computing, machine learning, social networks, IoT and blockchain.
Vrettos Moulos
Vrettos Moulos was born in Athens, Greece in 1983. He has obtained a Diploma in Information & Communication Systems Engineering from the Aegean University, an M.Sc. in Advanced Computing from Imperial College of London in 2007, another M.Sc. in Computing IT Law & Management from King’s College of London in 2008 and an M.Sc. in Techno-Economic Systems (MBA) co-organized by NTUA and University of Piraeus. He is a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA and is currently working as Research Associate and Software engineer. His research interests are mainly focused on the field of Anti Data Mining in Social Networks and Cloud Computing.
Vassiliki Andronikou
Dr. Vassiliki Andronikou received her diploma from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the NTUA in 2004 and her MSc degree in “Techno-economics” in 2010 (co-organized by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Dept – NTUA, Economic Sciences Dept – National Kapodistrian University of Athens, Industrial Management Dept – University of Piraeus). In 2005 her Thesis on “Mobile IPv6 with Fast Handovers” received the Ericsson award. In 2009 she gained a PhD in the area of biometric systems. She has worked in the Organization of Telecommunications of Greece (2003) and the National Bank of Greece (2004). Since 2004, she has been a Research Associate at the Distributed, Knowledge and Media Systems (DKMS) group being part of the Telecommunications Laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens. Her research expertise lies in Semantic Web technologies, with particular focus on knowledge representation, semantic inference and semantic interoperability, as well as biometric systems, particularly in privacy-preserving architectures. She has led and participated in several EU funded and national projects, e.g., HarmonicSS, ACTIVAGE, SECOVIA, OpenScienceLink, HOLA CLOUD, SLALOM, PONTE, POLYMNIA, FIDIS, BEinGRID, AKOGRIMO. She is currently researching upon the semantic interlinking of highly heterogeneous, international clinical and biomedical data.
Pavlos Kranas
Pavlos Kranas received his diploma from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2009, completing his thesis entitled 'Software License Management in Grid Computing'. He is currently pursuing his PhD thesis in the Distributed Knowledge and Media Systems (DKMS) Group of the NTUA, and he is working as a Research Associate and Software engineer in the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS)of NTUA, while in the past he has worked in the private sector as a software engineer. He has been involved in several EU funded projects, such as IRMOS, EPIC, 4CaaSt, CoherentPaaS, LeanBigData, CLOUDPERFECT and DITAS. His research interests are mainly focused on the field of cloud computing and data bases with emphasis on scalable mechanisms for transactional data coherence across datastores mainly used by polyglot enterprise applications.
